Safeguarding Belvedere's Future

Hands on experience  •  Years of service  •  Ready to lead

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It is with pleasure that I tell you that I am running for City Council to

continue the service that I began in June of this year, when I was
appointed to the Council to fill a vacancy. I would like to respectfully
ask for your full support, and most importantly for your vote in November.

Belvedere faces a number of serious challenges which will impact our community for years to come.  I believe the best way to meet these challenges is to bring a new level of civic engagement to our city, to foster open dialogue among the residents, and to ensure the transparency of all City work.

I am eager to build on my track record of volunteer work, with seven years of experience on the Planning Commission, including three years as Chair. I can deliver the strong and competent leadership I believe we need to succeed.

My many years of service to Belvedere have given me a deep understanding of our issues and of the city itself.  I understand the priorities of our residents, and I am proud to have demonstrated a record of success in listening to and working with many of you to address complex challenges, reach consensus, and achieve results.

My priorities, which are more fully described on my Priorities page, include:

  • Leading Belvedere through a challenging Housing Element update and
supporting Belvedere’s independent oversight of housing developments.

  • Making our City Hall work better for residents. Improving our planning and building processes to ensure that they are well-conceived, easily understood,
    and applied fairly.

  • Renewing our focus on public safety and preparedness. Ensuring the protection of our two critical roadways to safeguard citizens in a major emergency. This includes supporting Measure D on November's Ballot.

I would be honored to continue the work that I have been doing on your behalf.

Sincerely,

Peter Mark
Council Member, City of Belvedere
